Fort George and Buckingham House - Fur Trade Game

Trappers and Traders GameTrappers and Trade

Now you can own it for yourself.

The wildly popular outreach program offered by Fort George and Buckingham House can now be yours for only $25!

This exciting participatory fur trade re-enactment game is uniquely designed to recreate the competition between Fort George and Buckingham House, rival forts of the North West and Hudson’s Bay companies in the 1790’s.

Play Trappers and Trade to discover:

  • the differences between specific native groups coming to trade
  • their motivation for trade
  • the experience of trade
  • the products traded
  • the impact of competition on trade

The game: Requires up to 1.5 hours to complete and must have a minimum of 12 participants.

The CD: Contains instructions and all sheets, forms, and playing pieces ready to be printed off. The CD also includes background information on the forts, trade and life in the forts. This package is intended to create one complete game and to produce spare parts should any get lost or damaged.

Trappers and Trade requires some additional materials such as dice, protective sheet covers, hard candies and wipe off pens. Complete materials list and assembly instructions are included.

The CD is intended for the production of a single version of the game. Please purchase a second CD if you want to make a second copy. This game is copyrighted.

All proceeds go towards programming and improving Fort George and Buckingham House Provincial Historic Site.

Please send a cheque or money order made out to The Minister of Finance for $25 along with mailing instructions to:
