The McLaughlin Story – May 20, 2017 until October 9, 2018

150 years of Carriages, Cars & Canada Dry

Discover how this family of risk-takers shaped Canada’s transportation industry. See beautifully restored and as-found McLaughlin carriages and a 1920 McLaughlin Buick, join us behind the barriers to get up close and personal with vintage vehicles, and enjoy family fun with interactive games, toys, films and facility tours.

Lots of things to see and do when you visit:

  • The story of the McLaughlins and the Canadian carriage industry
  • White Glove Tours on vehicles with great Canadian stories
  • Guided tours of the museum focusing on Canadian stories
  • Kids area full of Canadian toys
  • Specially designed collector postcard in honour of Canada’s birthday, for visitors to send to their friends – we will mail them for free!

The car manufacturing side of “The McLaughlin Story” can be explored at the Reynolds-Alberta Museum in Wetaskiwin.

       

 

July 1st Canada Day Party in the Park and McLaughlin Display Celebration – July 1, 2017

Display Celebration begins at 1:00 p.m.

Special event will include:

  • Live Music
  • Petting Zoo
  • Jumping Castles
  • Face Painting
  • Fun Family Games

Event ends with a Canada Day Fireworks display!

Miniature Horse Chuckwagon Championships  – August 18-19, 2017

Friday August 18th
Races Start at 6:00 p.m. Cowboy social, including refreshments and music in the Museum Foyer to follow. (Included in admission to the event.)

Saturday August 19th
Events start at 9:00 a.m.
Free Pancake Breakfast from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Races at 1:00 p.m.

Family $15.00 (Adult plus children 17 and under)
Adult $5.00 (18 and over)
Youth $3.00 (17 and Younger)
(Event tickets are not an admission to the Museum)

Western Art & Gear Show  – August 19-20, 2017

August 19, 12:00 p.m to 9:00 p.m.
August 20, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Admission to the Art & Gear Show is free, admission tickets are required to visit the carriage collection and the Chuckwagon races.

Culture Days  – September 29-30, October 1, 2017

Free admission all three days
"Art of Carriages" Tour at 1:00 p.m. daily.
