Friends of the Ukrainian Village Society

The Friends of the Ukrainian Village Society (FOUVS) is a not-for-profit, charitable organization formed in 1984 to promote and encourage the use of the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village. The FOUVS believe that the history of Ukrainian pioneers should be preserved as an integral component of Alberta’s rich heritage. With a large volunteer base of more than 500 members, it is the longest serving co-operative society for any provincial historic site or museum in Alberta.

The mission of the FOUVS includes fund-raising to help enhance the visitor experience at the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village. Fundraising efforts, such as their annual golf tournament, support of the acquisition and restoration of artifacts, costuming for role-players and program development.  Funds generated in FOUVS museum shop and food services are reinvested into enhancement and expansion of the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village.

The FOUVS also coordinates the popular Historic Children’s Program and Junior Interpreter's Program, a weeklong summer day camp providing children ages 6-16 with an opportunity to step back in time and experience pioneer life from the 1900s. Registration forms for 2015 Historic Children’s Program and Junior Interpreter's Program are now available.
